Tired of doing homework at the Alkek Library? Want to spice up your homework environment? Don’t worry, we got you covered! George’s is another really cool place within the Texas State campus!
George’s can be found in the LBJ building on the lowest floor! It is on the same floor that Chick-fil-a, Starbucks, and Tu Taco can be found! They are open from 11 AM to 8 PM on Mondays through Thursdays. On Fridays they also open at 11 AM, however they do close at 5 PM.

Something that is really cool about George’s is that they have a few pool tables, several television screens, and really fun decorations. Students can also attend the many events that they host!! Some examples of things that they have done have been bingo, drag shows, among many other things!!
Many of my friends meet up at George’s several times a week to do homework and then to play pool afterwards. Hannah Cox, a current student at Texas State University, says that, “George’s is my favorite place because I really like the vibe of the place and that it plays a lot of shows and movies that I love!!” She continues, “I never knew that this place was here until like a month ago. And ever since I found this place, I only go here to do homework.”

In the beginning of the school year, with COVID still prominently in the picture, George’s mainly had television screens as their only form of entertainment. In one of my most recent visits to George’s, they opened the pool tables along with the piano! I have noticed that there have been so many more people there now that students can hang out and play pool.

I am person who loves studying at the library or at Jone’s dining hall, but I am a sucker for George’s. It is just one of those places that many people might know about, but they probably forget about because it is slightly tucked away.
